Bitch Spays

Neutering female dogs, also known as spaying, offers numerous health and behavioral benefits. One of the primary advantages is the prevention of unwanted litters, addressing the issue of pet overpopulation. Spaying also significantly reduces the risk of uterine infections and mammary tumors, especially if performed before the first heat cycle. Behavioral benefits include a decrease in territorial marking, aggression, and the instinct to roam in search of a mate. Additionally, spaying eliminates the heat cycle, sparing both the dog and her owner the stress and inconvenience associated with this reproductive stage. Overall, neutering female dogs contributes to their well-being, improves their quality of life, and helps promote responsible pet ownership.

Cat Spays

Spaying female cats provides numerous health and behavioral benefits. A primary advantage is the prevention of unplanned litters, contributing to efforts to control the feline population. It also eliminates the occurrence of estrus, or heat, which can be accompanied by yowling and restlessness. Behavioral benefits include a decrease in territorial marking and the instinct to roam in search of a mate. Furthermore, spaying reduces the likelihood of certain reproductive-related behavioral issues, making female cats more content and easier to manage as household pets. Ultimately, the procedure not only improves the individual cat's well-being but also helps address the broader challenge of cat overpopulation.

Dog Castrates

Neutering male dogs, also known as castration, offers various health and behavioral advantages, but is not the correct decision for every patient. A key benefit is the prevention of unwanted litters, which helps curb pet overpopulation. Neutering reduces the risk of certain health issues, mainly testicular disease. It can also mitigate undesirable behaviours such as urine marking, aggression, and the instinct to roam in search of a mate. If you are unsure if neutering is the correct decision for your pet please get in contact with us.

Cat Castrates

Neutering, or castration, provides several notable benefits for male cats. One of the primary advantages is population control, as neutering prevents the fathering of unwanted litters, thereby contributing to the overall reduction of stray and homeless cats. Behavioural benefits include a reduction in territorial marking, a decrease in aggressive tendencies, and less likelihood of roaming in search of a mate. Neutered male cats tend to display calmer behavior and are often more adaptable to living indoors. This can lead to a more harmonious relationship with their owners and a decreased risk of injury or illness associated with outdoor activities. Ultimately, neutering not only addresses practical concerns such as overpopulation but also enhances the individual cat's well-being and the overall quality of life for both the feline and its human caregivers.

All our routine surgeries are carried out under general anaesthesia.

Patients are given injectable pain relief while in the clinic as well as sent home with oral pain relief to ensure their comfort.

Patients are assessed before surgery and monitored throughout the procedure.

Normally for routine neutering procedures patients are admitted in the morning and discharged in the late afternoon.
